Palm Loft Gallery is happy to host an art exhibition to benefit the Citizens for the Carpinteria Bluffs a group dedicated to the acquisition and protection of the entire Carpinteria Bluffs 1 area.  While there is not acquisition campaign at this time, our fundraising efforts will help with the many expenses associated with defending the bluffs from development and reaching a position where a willing owner agrees to sell the land for protection in perpetuity. please read the following simple instructions carefully


  • Monday March 25  10:00 to 12:00  bring 1 to 3 paintings, there is a cash entry fee of $15 for one or $20 for two or three paintings.
  • Paintings and Photographs need to be framed or gallery finished (painted black if unframed wrap around canvas) and the frame or canvas stretchers need to be made of wood to accommodate screwed small d rings that the gallery needs to use with our hanging system.
  • Paintings must be of the Carpinteria Bluffs coastline, from the end of Calle Ocho to the end of Carpinteria Avenue, including the pier and oil facilities, preference will be given to images of the currently endangered 27 acre area now occupied by the Tee Time golf driving range and farm fields.
  • An Artists Reception will run from 4:00 to 6:00 on Saturday, March 30.
  • Jurors are Ted Rhodes, Gary Campopiano and Arturo Tello

I choose colors for their emotional effect rather than reproduce the colors I actually see before me (what we call ‘local colors’).   Currently, I am using lighter colors and a lot of white which create the luminosity that I seek.

I want my viewers to be happy they are alive, to be excited by new possibilities and new ways of seeing and experiencing the world around them, and to feel relieved to be surrounded by positive energy.

Sharon Lobel is a landscape, nature and wildlife photographer and recently began photographing surfers and the ocean.   Don’t let her city girl looks fool you because she had rather pitch a tent and hang out on the side of a mountain than go shopping any day! 

In her younger years…she worked as a model, both in print and TV which has given her a great advantage in photography.  Sharon is a self taught photographer and has traveled extensively around the world. She has experienced a wide range of adventures throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean and United States. 

Sharon is the 1st VP for PPLAC – Professional Photographers of Los Angeles County and has served as Secretary and Treasurer in the past.  She is a multiple award winner with PPLAC and was named the 2011 Nature & Landscape Photographer of the Year and the 2011 Overall Photographer of the Year. In 2014, she was named the PPLAC Nature Photographer of the Year, Open Photographer of the Year & Sharon also received the Judges Choice Award.

Sharon currently serves as the State Secretary for PPC – Professional Photographers of California.  She has several award winning images with PPC.  Sharon is also a PPC Qualified Photographic Judge. 

Sharon is a member of PPA - Professional Photographers of America and was named an International Silver Medalist winner during PPA’s 2013 International Photographic Competition.  She was honored at PPA’s annual convention, “Imaging USA” in Phoenix, Arizona.   

Sharon is also a photography educational & motivational speaker on “PMS”…“Passion, Motivation & Suitcase for Success”.  She will dig deep into your passion and encourage you to find out what motivates you!  Her “Suitcase for Success” is full of ideas from photographing insects to mountains and sharing her best tools and tricks while in the field traveling locally and abroad.
